It's only a short walk from the camp site at Lower Toollands, but I soon felt I was taking my life in my hands. The A358 is a veritable race track with double white lines down the middle, with drivers desperate to display their prowess to other drivers coming the other way. If I didn't have a thirst before, I certainly did after, to take away the taste of adrenaline. Anyway, the Farmers Arms is a haven of cool after that road, and has been well described by the previous reviewer, although he wouldn't have been aware at the time of the Covid precautions of which there are still residues (don't use this door, book in at the bar before taking a seat, don't blow your nose, etc - I made that last one up). The other effect of the pandemic may be the presence of only three cask beers on the bar, and I think only one real cider, though I'm no expert.
My Exmoor Gold was in very good condition (NBSS 3.5), but this beer is a little too sweet for my taste. Should have had the Timothy Taylor Landlord. (Edit: the Landlord was beautiful, NBSS 4). The background music is a bit too much in the foreground for me - I've typed that so often, I think my keyboard could do it for me.

Reopened in 2018 after a devastating fire, this village pub is now an outstanding village pub with excellent food. It is approached via a tiny and easily-missed side road off the Minehead road, across a hump-backed bridge. There is a good sized car park and a large garden which has its own servery and barbecue area, plus a pizza oven. Inside, the bar ha slargely been restored to its pre-fire state, some of the exposed oak timbers replaced with new oak, other features such as the inglenook fireplace cleaned up and put back into service. The décor is comfortable and homely, and there are no electronic distractions. There is a dining room upstairs. The staff are friendly and welcoming, though their patience was stretched by a large group of rude grockels who demanded a a complex menu order in short timescales. The ales are also excellent – Exmoor Beast, Gold and Ale, Sunraker, White Horse’s Moon Stallion, Quantock Railhead and Nine Standards No1 Golden Ale, plus some ciders. Definitely worth stopping.

We usually call in here for lunch when travelling to Minehead and it has improved tremendously over the past couple of years. A very warm welcome and we were served both ales and food in a very efficient and friendly manner. The St Austell's HSD was in fine condition and the food was very good although the menu is a little pedestrian for a pub that is trying to be a restaurant. Rating any pub 10/10 (see below) is just bloody silly as the perfect pub can only exist in my imagination, but it's a good 8.

Can only echo what the previous reviewer has said.4 real ales on at any one time and in good condition.Very nice outside drinking area.Although this pub is in a fairly remote position there is a regular bus service (No 28)from Taunton/Minehead.
