Strongers . left this review about West Station
West Station is located on the edge of an industrial estate opposite a petrol garage, which isn’t the most ideal location. The management has made an effort though as there is a trellis arch entrance that leads to some picnic tables shielded from the sights by some high wooden fencing. This place advertises itself as a bar and restaurant, but it felt more like a pub to me. Granted the larger left hand side was closed off whilst hosting a sit down meal for a fiftieth birthday or anniversary, but there was a pub atmosphere. The ‘bar area’ is in fact a public bar with a dartboard and a jukebox. There is also a plasma screen, but this was off during a football match so there is obviously no Sky Sports. The bar supports three hand pumps, but two of these were unused leaving Harveys Best as the sole ale choice. Standard draught products are also available and the Guinness was well served by a very friendly barmaid. This pub was known as Dr Beechings up until at least 2007.
I didn’t try the food, but décor wise this place is far from gastro. As a pub it was a little rubbish, but I still enjoyed my stay which was more due to the micky taking locals. This pub is a little out of the way to justify a return visit.
