Old skool GBG listed ale pub just over the ring road which opened in its current guise in 2013. Impressive old wood curved servery and topper with multicoloured pub carpet to give it the full effect. Mini library room out back with loads of books and a dedicated reading table. A proper local with a chalk sign at the bar about Ted’s food being in the fridge and it needing collecting. For those of a traditional bent, the gents bogs are outside. Four cask over six, beers from Small World, Consett, Yard of Ale and Brentwood, the latter's Mild was slightly lively but in good shape (NBSS 3.5) with two ciders also on offer. Confusion caused by the Bass and Banks pumps off right which were for decorative purposes and not dispensing – gutted. Hard to pick a favourite Darlo pub after just a single swift visit but this one is up there.

Probably my favourite Darlo pub, a old fashioned single room boozer on the main North Road. The counter to the right has six pulls and there’s a lot of old wood about, the gents is in a connected outhouse up the yard. A true classic and a gem.

A proper little locals' pub on the outside of the ring road. One very homely room and half a dozen handpumps with a good selection of beers.

Just over the ring road and a good pub with 7 hand pumps. A decent selection of real ales including a ruby ale @ 5.2% ABV. Just the one room but worth a visit.

This is a small old school pub at the start of the main road North out of Darlington. There is also some wooden shelving at the back with bottles that can be consumed on site. The main room is open and square with the bar on the right. This has seven hand pumps of which two are devoted to cider. These included beers from Cameron's, Rudgate, Mistril and Small World. Prices ranged from £2.90 to £3.10.
I went for the Small World Twin Falls (£3.10) which was in excellent nick. This is a good old fashioned no frills pub that is well worth a visit.

A friendly one roomed pub, with an adjoining bottle shop. We called in looking for their Crafty Pint beer, but unfortunately none was ready. Nevertheless they had a fabulous choice of beers across 7 handpumps. You can also choose a bottle beer from the shop and drink it in the pub. We called in on a Monday lunchtime where we found half a dozen like-minded ale drinkers, who were all friendly and chatty, so we spent a bit of time in here. We went for the Cameron's Craft Paschal Moon, Gainford Belgian Blonde Saaz, Mithril Twickers Tipple and Yard of Ale Victor.

This is a wonderful find for real ale. We were looking for new pubs in Darlington, and this one should be on the list for a real ale pub crawl. There were 7 ale pumps and a couple of ciders. The beers were from the following breweries: Mithril, Crafty Pint, Hop Studio, Brass Castle, Sky's Edge, Hill Island and Yard of Ale. He doesn't stock the run of the mill brand lagers, but had one called Scorpion I believe the name was, brewed under licence somewhere. There is also a massive bottle shop there. He is doing some brewing for the pub as Crafty Pint, and sometimes his recipes are brewed by Just A Minute brewery. We enjoyed the 4 beers we tried, especially the 8.3% Brass Castle Annexation. In 2015 Good Beer Guide.
