Strongers . left this review about The Queens Head

The large imposing mock Tudor Queens Head was buzzing with a surprisingly large mixed age local crowd during a recent early Tuesday evening visit. To the left of the entrance is a pool table that is placed on the oche of an unusable dartboard. To the right of the entrance banquette seating runs under the front windows and a U-shaped bar counter runs up the left to a conservatory at the rear with more seating and a couple of usable dartboards. The bar counter is split by a supporting wall towards the rear which separates the front bar area from the conservatory. Televisions are found throughout were airing muted horse racing and cricket, both courtesy of Sky Sports. There was some background music playing which added to the ‘Friday evening’ atmosphere.
Standard and premium keg were available and two of the four hand pumps were in operation drawing Tetleys and Wainwright. The barman was polite and the governor was very hospitable whilst having a few laughs on the customer’s side of the bar. This place is right up my street as an example of a proper boozer, that are now a dying breed.

Jack Nicholson left this review about Queens Head

The last time I visited was in 2007 so a return visit was due. This time on a Monday evening and the pub was almost empty apart form a darts match taking place. Two TVs were on showing the football and music was playing too. I must say that the décor has improved since my last visit but alas still no real ale.
