It is indeed closed and set to re-open soon as a Tesco Metro. I find it difficult to believe that no pub operator appears to be interested in acquiring a well known main road landmark premises like this and running it as a pub. Listed in CAMRA's Regional Inventory of Unspoilt Pub Interiors

I have to admit I'd had a few when I went in here so cannot really remember too much. It is an attractive pub both inside and out and had it's fair share of colourful characters. The London Pride at £1.50 was a bargain and in reasonable condition.
