We liked the beer in here - superb condition Timothy Taylor - nearly the full range including Ram Tam and a Blonde (previously unseen).
However, it was setup solely for fining and nowhere for the drinker to sit, apart from at a few high stools at the bar.
Strange atmosphere of people murmuring, afraid to not talk too loudly.
Not what we wanted or expected really, but I am sure the food was excellent.

Quite a large roadside pub, right next to the bridge at the entrance to the village. Although there are multiple rooms, each with a different character, the tables are all for diners, with just a few stools at the bar and one small bench seat close to the front door for drinkers. At mealtimes, it's not really a place to be just drinking, unless the weather allows use of the beer garden to the rear or the bench tables out front.
Beers are all from the Timothy Taylor stable; on my visit these included the Dark Mild, which was OK but not outstanding. The barman took three or four attempts to get my pint glass full, but at least he didn't need prompting. Our visit was on a Saturday night: on the previous night we turned around at the door because the very small space around the bar was entirely occupied by some rowdy lager drinkers. This place is probably at its best in the afternoon, especially if it's sunny.

A long, narrow pub, with four or five adjoining rooms leading off from the bar service area. The woman presenting the Sunday night pub quiz was having a hard time making herself heard in all of them. A pleasant country pub, fairly typical of the area.
