(Jan 2024 Update) No longer Black Sheep (apparently they need planning permission to remove the signage outside!) but now independently owned and, if anything, the beer range has increased with various guests replacing the Black Sheep and York brews. I counted products from some 15 breweries between the 10 handpumps and similar number of craft taps, plus a few ciders, and all quite unusual apart from the obligatory Landlord. The place itself has had a bit of a facelift, with a mix of pews, benches and chairs round Britannia tables - generally a pleasant place for a pint.
(June 2022 review)Refurbished by Black Sheep since they acquired York Brewery, this is a good drinking pub from a shop conversion on the edge of the Shambles area. Generally painted in dark blue and white, the walls are decorated with various brewing information and old equipment. The little bar in the rear room has 8 pumps with a good selection of the wider Black Sheep range and various guests from the likes of Craven, Wensleydale, Broad Oak and Little Critters, plus some keg craft. There is a small suntrap patio at the back. Worth stopping by.

Despite no longer being run by the now-defunct York Brewery, the Last Drop has re-opened and is still a good place to go for a beer. It is fairly small with an area of seating at street level to the front and with the bar up a couple of steps to the rear.
A total of 8 cask ales are served. On my Monday evening visit, these were Timothy Taylor Landlord, Ainsty Cool Citra, Bantam Best & The Last Blonde, Rudgate Odin's Blonde, Mobberley Sidekick, Three Legs Oat Stout & Caps Off Don't Mention The Wall Milk Stout. I didn't spot a real cider, but craft beers were Lost and Grounded Wanna' Go To The Sun & Hop-Handed Fallacy, Anspach and Hobday Dry-Hopped Wheat Beer, Caps Off Ice Cream Sour & Tartarus Arch Rogue.
My Three Legs Oat Stout was quite enjoyable and despite not having been here for over 15 years, this remains one of the better places to drink in the city centre.

York brewery pub with plain paneling and basic decor. Six real ales on the bar and I opted for a pint of Terrier for £3.15, not a bad price in this area of York and was very nicely kept.
Not the most entertaining atmosphere and a little uncomfortable with the hard wooden chairs as well as a cold draught from people walking in and out of the smoking area.
A nice little pub to stop off at with average beer but York brewery is not always to everyone taste. not the sort of place to stay all night but you could do a lot worse.

This is York Brewery's first pub. Wooden floors and paneling - toilets upstairs. The sort of place where you have a quick beer and go elsewhere. Beer was well kept, I enjoyed the Yorkshire Terrier, but Guzzler not for me.

Pub is as described by Old Boots & Soupy below, however the "conservatory" is actually an open roofed area that used to be the smoking area until the law was changed. When we were there it was obvious there was no roof as it was lashing it down and it was flooded :-)) Five of the handpumps were in use as Centurians Ghost had just gone. I had a pint of York Blonde and the other half had York Guzzler. Both were excellent as they always are in here. It's one of our regular stop offs in York. Now gives 10% discount on all real ales to CAMRA members.

I found this place to be missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on what it was. Its a York Brewery pub, a shop conversion by the looks of it, and the interior is a mix of exposed brick and dark wood. It seemed to lack a bit of character to me, maybe I had been spoilt by other York pubs visited. Good pint of Oakham Inferno (£2.70) available, but I didn't feel a nagging urge to hang around. Handy for the excellent fish & chip shop down the road to the right hand side as you exit.
