Old Boots left this review about The Sovereigns

An Ember Inns large open plan but multi spaced pub in modernish style, mix of chairs & tables set for dining plus a few sofas at low tables and tall poseing table with tall stools. There are plenty of screens and machines. Eight pulls on one counter face and five round the corner all serving beers from the larger regionals, Adnams, Brakspear, Brains, dispensed from unusual pumps with a tall swan neck. Functional rather than charming. Beer is fine and the pub is in 2016 GBG.

A nicely-furnished and well-run Ember Inn, with a fairly large concentration on food but a good range of ales also. Knocked through from original layout, so various different room areaa at odd levels, but all with a clean, modern feel. The only pub at that end of town, a good place to get away from 'the circuit' in the centre, except possibly when Woking FC at home.

An Ember Inn with various interconnected areas, the usual modern Ember interior which inevitably comes across as a hotel lounge feel. Some exposed brickwork, clear glass windows with curved leaded upper sections which may hint at a previous, perhaps more traditional lifetime. A couple of fireplaces were burning away and were welcome after spending a couple of hours getting cold at the football, the central bar had a range of handpumps facing on entering. Hobgoblin, Otter Bright, Doom Bar, Adnam's Broadside, York Brewery Centurion, Ringwood Best Bitter, something else from Adnam's plus a mild I also sadly failed to note. More pumps to the side, despite all being clipped, were apparently not on.
A bit of outdoor seating to the front facing a busy junction was only going to entice the hardiest of smokers on a cold night.
The beer range is decent, this is not a traditional pub by any standards but sadly it is probably the best this town has to offer in my experience having visited numerous times for football apart from the 'Spoons up nearer to the station.

Sovereigns is a large Ember Inns pub that was very busy when I visited early on a recent Friday evening. Surprisingly the vast majority of customers had gone for the beer rather than the cheap food, and rightly so. I had a couple of pints of excellently kept Fortyniner and the other ales available were Spitfire, Broadside, Doom Bar, Greene King IPA, Deuchars and Altons Pale Ale. There is a seating section outside the front of the pub, but this was overrun with smokers. A quiz is held every Monday and Wednesday from 21:00 and there is a late license until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

This is one of the better Ember Inns pubs that I have visited and I would have no problem returning.

Part of Ember Inns who are currently running a ‘Best of British' regional beerfest. Choice yesterday was Summer Lightning, Stonehenge Pigswill, Doombar, Bishops Finger, Deuchers, & Caledonian ‘Trick or Treat'. Tried the first 2, which were in good shape & the number of old pumpclips adorning the bar augered well for choice outside the ‘fest.
I arrived just after noon and the bar was very busy with groups of our more senior citizens all ordering food; the two efficient barstaff coped very well and no-one was left waiting too long to place an order or get drinks.
Modern-ish lounge decor & seating not really my style albeit comfortable, but please paint over that dreadful purple colour around the faux central ‘open' fire.

An Ember Inns pub with a pretty good range of beers. A far cry from the old Sovs before a major refurb but not a bad place to stop should you have the misfortune of having to spend an eveing in Woking

An Ember Inn recently taken over by the former Landlady from the Crown in Egham (Linda). A wide range of Real Ales, excellently kept. Modern interior may put off some but I think it's quite nicely done myself, it feels fairly warm and snug. A must-stop for a pint in Woking.
