Bucking Fastard left this review about The Rowbarge

Situated quite close to the Basingstoke Canal in a residential suburb, the pub is set back from the road with an extensive garden to the front and side. The front door leads to the tap room with the bar ahead,a small wing to the right with tables set for dining, while elsewhere the furniture is a mix of high tables, circular and square tables with a seperate side room to the left looking like an overflow area if you wish to partake of the pub grub, which was voluminous.
The flatscreen was turned off and most of the tables were occupied by drinkers,it has a boozer vibe at the front.
Two handpumps with Doom Bar thankfully reversed ,leaving Theakstons XB as the ale option,NBSS 3.There was also mulled wine on the bar,a glass also bringing a small mince pie.
With a better ale range this pub would have scored higher,it serves the local community well and could be useful if visiting the canal on foot or by boat.

Admin note: This pub has been reported as reopened 5/2/2012

The pub suffered a serious fire on 23/1/2011 resulting in the loss of much of the roof and the first floor kitchen. Lets hope that the reinstatement works will still leave a pub here.
