Thuck Phat left this review about Fox & Hounds

The Fox really is a tremendous boozer for a decent pint, probably the best I've found in this area. The Fox Brewery is housed in a small building in the pub car park and my experience of it's products has been nothing but very good so this place is well worth seeking out.
The building itself is an unexceptional red brick, 1930's I'd guess, affair. Inside it's one main room with a sparesly furnished boozing area around the bar complete with pool table and more seating to the right. There is a large room at the back which is a dedicated restaurant most of the time I think and the loos are worth a look on the way.
This place could easily lack atmosphere but the welcome from both bar staff and locals has always been very warm whenever I've visited so don't let initial impressions put you off.
The Fox does serve food. It's pretty standard pub grub which is well priced and very decent. After a long walk my ham, egg and chips went down a treat.
Beer: Inevitably Fox beers feature well but it's by no means exclusive. My most recent visit found 5 handpumps of which 3 were Fox - Heacham Gold, Santa's Nuts and Grateful Deaf Hophead's Delight - and the other 2 were Iceni Celtic Queen and Northumberland Dracula Soup. A good mix of styles here from very light through to black and strengths from 3.8% up to 6.3%. Most importantly everything I tried, the 3 from Fox, flew down and that's been my experience with all their beers no matter what the strength or style. These boys can brew.
Very well worth a visit for top quality ale and a warm welcome and thoroughly deserving of it's GBG entry. I will definitely return.

UPDATE JULY 2011

The Fox is still the best real ale pub I've found in this area borne out by 8 handpumps on this visit dispensing four of Fox's own outstanding beers, 3 from Abbeydale including 2 by Dr. Mortons and one from Derbyshire. I was after something pale but punchy and nothing quite fitted the bill so the landlord took a couple of pints straight from the next barrel up. Another from Fox and excellent again.
The welcome from both landlord and locals was as warm and friendly as ever.
Worth noting that children aren't allowed in the bar until food serving times, six in the evening, but there are outside tables.
An excellent and understated alehouse worth a long detour for a top quality pint.
