Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Blue Bell Inn
Hood Street is the main street through St John's Chapel and is a cottage-style pub amongst housing. It has a smart bar to the front with board games in one corner and a couple of TVs. To the rear is a games room with a pool table. A large pub dog is on hand to greet visitors. Other dogs are welcome.
At the bar, there were a couple of cask ales from Allendale - Golden Plover & Tar Bar'l, with Pennine Pale coming next. I was surprised to see a stout. It was quite lively when dispensed and I received a short measure, but it was enjoyable. The cider was Thatcher's Gold.
Another Good Beer Guide entry, I thought this was a cosy pub and would happily pay a return visit.
