Will Larter left this review about Owain Glyndwr Hotel

I like this old hotel in the centre of town with its white painted facade and regular rows of windows. Inside it's more informal, with a nice public bar tucked away on the right towards the rear; there's a further room behind which has its own stretch of counter. There are just two hand pumps with Cwrw Nant Aur y Felin on one and Purple Moose Snowdonia [or should it be Eryri?] Gold on the other. These prompted a discussion with the young and bilingual barman, who speculated that the brewery probably supplied a choice of the name according to the pub's customers' preferences. With the other beer, is it Golden Mill or Mill Gold - again, he reckoned it could be either. My half of Eryri/Snowdonia could have been either good or very good, on the CAMRA scoring system - I decided on the latter (£5/pint).

A customer of a similar age struck up a conversation about how there are so few pubs in Corwen compared to when she was a lass - not that she was drinking in them when she was 13, of course. It took me a while to work out that she'd had quite a bit more to drink than I had. But it's true that this is the only full time pub in the town. The Crown is B&B only, the Harp has been closed for years, as has the Eagle, and the Royal Oak is closed three (or sometimes more) days a week. And now the rendering is to be stripped from the front of this hotel, restoring the original stone. I hope it's worth the effort and the cost.

Small but friendly bar area with only the one real ale that I could see. Judging by the other pubs in Corwen real ale isn't that high up on their priorities. Which is a shame cos the place needs it. But for now never mind.

Old town centre hotel. Small olde world bar with a larger lounge area. The only "pub" open for a lunchtime drink in Corwen.
Meals served every day between 12noon and 9pm.
Real Ale is a recent addition to the Owain Glyndwr Hotel. The Theakstons Bitter doubles the availability in Corwen! The landlord has to sell Theakstons but intends to sell a guest beer as well if he thinks sales can sustain it. Real Ale is needed in the town for when the steam train arrives from Llangollen, as all Llangollen pubs sell it. Another point on the score for the ale!
