Centrally placed inn serving what was once a fishing village but is now mainly residential. The temptation to knock the rooms through has been resisted, so it retains two cosy little snug areas behind the bar, with the predictable mix of beams and stone walls with traditional furnishings throughout. The main room is decorated in blue and white. All the areas are set out for dining and there is a further dining room upstairs in a side building. Ales from St Austell seemed in good order and unusually for the area there were also some 7 real ciders on hand. There are a few tables outside by the village square. Parking in Portscatho can be difficult, although there is a small public car park with limited waiting adjacent to the pub.

Positioned in the square it is centrally located and serves a varied menu all year round.
Go on friday for fish and chips. St. Austell ales on cask. Gets very busy and can be tricky to get to the bar when the regular visitors are leaning thereabouts. Otherwise excellent. Watch the steps into the (Gents)toilet, especially after one or two too many!
