Colin Walker left this review about Nicky-Tams Bar & Bothy
The pubs is named after a strap or string secured round a trouser leg below the knee, formerly worn by farm workers to keep the trouser bottoms clear of dirt. The words Nicky Tams was written by George Smith Morris into a Bothy Ballad which are songs sung by farm labourers, specifically in the northeast region of Scotland. Bothies are outbuildings on a big farm, where unmarried farm labourers used to sleep often in harsh conditions. In the evening, to entertain themselves they sang old songs and often composed their own songs. The place has a well lived in look. Live bands are on variuous nights and food is served daily.
