Colin Walker left this review about Elphinstone Inn
The Elphinstone Inn is a category C listed building, near the category A listed 1697, 17ft high, including the stepped octagonal stone base Mercat (Market) Cross in the High Street and sits in the old town of Airth with its 1700’s & 1800’s houses. The inn itself dates back to the 1800’s. The driving through of the turnpike road from Falkirk to Stirling in the early 19th century changed the layout of the town. The main entrance on the High Street leads straight into the lounge and going forward leads to the main and very busy public bar and then to the bear garden. The inn can also be accessed from the Main Street through the beer garden to the bar. The bar has a wide varied range of Belhaven related beers. There is also a very good choice of whisky available. The inn is a great stopping off point after having spent the day studying the local historic village, old castle ruins and church. There is only street parking available, but preferably not the Main Street as it is very busy as it leads to and from the Kincardine Bridges. The High Street is not very wide and the traffic is usually local residents.
