Wood block exterior and pretty neat inside with a bit of atmosphere. Oddly the cask ale is upstairs (?!) in a separate room with no point of sale downstairs (?! again), after asking at the bar and the barmaid duly dispatched (I suspect, not all that keenly) I ended-up with a fair pint of Fyne Jarl (NBSS 3). A rather excellent quiz was on-going, a shame we didn’t get there earlier as I fancied our chances. Apparently this place used to be a bra factory in a former life, so I’m surprised/impressed the owners decided against calling it Boulder Holder or something similar. If they made a bit more effort advertising their ale then I’d score higher. 5.5

Despite being in the 2016 GBG this is a trendy keg only bar & diner downstairs with a Real Ale and Whisky bar upstairs that isn't open during the day when I visited. It is becoming more common to see a row of keg taps at the rear of a bar but there is usually something unusual worth drinking rather than the 100% mainstream rubbish this place sells. They did offer to get me a beer from upstairs but the Orkney Meridian had gone off so I went for the Speyside Moray IPA (£3.25) which was in decent nick. The other beer was something from Tryst brewery. Live music was advertised and a beer festival the near future. I didn't take to this place at all. If they were serious about beer in any form they would have something better than just the mainstream dross that is available during the day. I wouldn't bother to return, the JDW is better and over a quid a pint cheaper.

A large front room extending into a restaurant area at the rear. The hand pulls for the various lagers and beers are on the back wall of the bar area rather than being on the bar, very unusual. There is paying car parking across the road
