A nice little sidestreet locals' pub, almost anonymous from the outside. The single room was tidily furnished in a sort of 1990s style but was perfectly functional. The three large TVs looked a bit excessive, but only one was in use showing daytime TV. At the back, a small bar had two handpumps: Black Sheep had just gone off and the Old Speckled Hen was described as too lively, but with a little encouragement was pulled and proved to be fine. The locals were certainly not unfriendly but, in the nicest possible way, interpretation or subtitles would have been useful. A pleasant pub and, at time of writing, believed to be Jedburgh's only source of real ale.
