Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Masonic Arms

The Masonic Arms is situated on a rather grand and wide side street off the main High Street. It seemed rather quiet inside, but those customers present were taking advantage of a rather sunny afternoon in Dumfries & Galloway and were sitting on tables and benches to the front of the pub. We initially tried the garden to the right-hand side of the pub, but quickly realised that despite the warm sunshine, there was a very chilly wind. With the pub and an adjacent wall protecting those drinking to the front of the pub from the wind, we soon joined them.

Inside consists one one large room. As the previous review suggests, I think food is still a focus here. Whilst it didn't feel too foodie on our visit, as it was late afternoon between lunch and dinner sessions, a group did arrive with the intention of eating shortly before we left.

A couple of real ales were on - Morland Old Speckled Hen & Five Kingdoms Bright Idea. I tried the latter, which was nice.

I would definitely describe the Masonic as a gastro pub, the food is lovely, real ales are available.
There is a comfortable bar, a restaurant and a conservatory restaurant. On street parking.
