Millport is situated about 1 hour from Glasgow and a 10-minute ferry ride and a 10-minute bus ride from Largs. Check out http://www.calmac.co.uk/destinations/cumbrae.htm for ferry times. This is the only hotel in Millport and on the whole island. This used to be the first drinking place visited when the ferry used to drop off in the Millport Pier Ferry Terminal. But as there was no access for cars on and off, the ferry now does the short stop to the Cumbrae Ferry Terminal further back round the island. This saves a fortune for Calmac the ferry operators, but means having to take a bus into Millport centre. The hotel sits right at the quayside. It has a well stocked bar and would pass as a typical small hotel bar in Glasgow. The place serves food from a good choice menu.

The George Hotel Millport is now under new ownership and new management.
Extensive reburbishment is almost complete and should be completed by April 2008.
Visit Scotland have recommended that The George Hotel is rated 3 star, so I am sure that you will notice big changes.

My Wife & I stayed in this hotel for one night in the Spring of 2003, it was supposed to be two nights but it was so awful we had to leave early.
