The public bar here attracts a mixture of locals and tourists and, despite being part of a busy hotel, has a proper pub atmosphere. There are four hand pumps, only two of which were in use, dispensing Greene King Abbot Reserve and Cairngorm Trade Winds. A pint of the latter cost me £3.60. Also on tap were Cairngorm Black Gold stout (at £4 a pint), Belhaven Best (£3.20 a pint), Greene King East Coast IPA, Guinness, Symonds cider and Cairngorm, Fosters and Kronenburg 1664 lagers. The Cairngorm beers are brewed in nearby Aviemore. A good selection of food is available at reasonable prices and it is obviously a popular place to eat. There is a pool table in a small room off the main one. The bar walls are decorated with old village photos and numerous items of golf memorabilia, including an actual set of clubs in a golf bag. There is also a sign proclaiming: "Paul Daniels stayed here." What better recommendation could you need?
