David Ross left this review about Tarry Ile Bar
A traditional style corner bar just over the River Ness from the city centre, the Tarry Ile seems to be patronised more by locals than by tourists. It has wooden pew seating around the walls and chairs at tables, a stone flagged floor, one TV and a couple of games machines. The walls are decorated with, among other things, old Guinness advertising posters. A pint of the same stout cost me £3.40 and Tennent's, Foster's and Stella Artois lagers, John Smith's and Strongbow ordinary and Cloudy Apple ciders are also on draught. There appears to be an upstairs section which wasn't open at the time of my visit. It's a friendly and appealing locals' pub which makes a pleasant change from some of the over modernized and tourist thronged ones across the river.
