In the Milburn suburb high above the city centre this is a large building with a hotel, restaurant and a modern fitted out bar with an attractive and popular beer garden to the front in good weasther.Inside a mix of furniture ,some high tables, two rooms partitioned off with glass screens and several Sky Sports flatscreens all thankfully on mute.It featues in the 2026 GBG which drew the visit giving an ale choice of TT Golden Best,Orkney Island Life and Fyne Jarl with a Doom Bar clip thankfully reversed.Although the Fyne Jarl was good,NBSS 4 ,this low strength focus within the ale range was disappointing and we only stayed for the one.I don't know if I would bother again if this is all they've got on.

A yomp up the hill from town but worth it. Don't be deceived by the first junction-abutting pub, (Heathmount) the Corrie’s directly behind it. A fine old stone building and a large place inside, done-out quite recently but with a traditional nod - exposed stone, a classic plum colour scheme and a couple of inlaid stained and leaded panels. Enter to the tidy main bar room, with a small raised area to the right and a circular pillar fireplace. To the rear is a semi-enclosed darkened man cave with three screens showing the football at a sensible volume. Three ales on; Deuchars IPA, Stewarts Edinburgh Gold (very good nick) and Cairngorm Tradewinds (good). A textbook example of getting a local, mid-range pub right and certainly more befitting of its GBG status than one or two others in the area.
