David Ross left this review about Twa Corbies
Taking its name from a well known anonymous ballad, Twa Corbies (two ravens or carrion crows) feature on the pub sign outside. This is the closest pub to Cumbernauld railway station, but, being in the middle of a housing scheme, it’s not particularly easy to find. In fact, it’s a typical Scottish new town housing scheme pub, almost indistinguishable from those in East Kilbride or Livingston. By that, I mean that it’s pleasant, modern, purpose built and comfortable, but bland and predictable. Like its other new town clones, it consists of a separate bar and lounge, although only the former was open despite it being a Friday night. The bar is a long, rectangular room with an area at one end containing a pool table and games machines. On draught are Caledonia Best (costing £2.80), Guinness, Tennent’s Special, Tennent’s Lager and Magner’s cider. This is a good enough place to spend some time if you’re waiting for a train, but, if you’re familiar with new towns, you’ll get a definite déjà vu experience.
