Located in the upper part of town, this is a music/alt pub with an impressively limited amount of seating. Faint smell of old dog. There’s loads of old gig posters everywhere, as well as an upright piano. Homemade puntastic Cornish placename film posters in the spur/darts area, a good number of which were genuinely witty. Back alley gents, for connoisseurs of the exterior pissoir. Leftfield (for south Cornwall) ale selection with two northern brews plus the local Sharps Sea Fury which was a little barrel-endy but perfectly fine, NBSS 3. The ale selection means it has Guided, which seems fair.

This pub is at the top end of the Causeway pedestrianised area, and there was a group of locals at the bar chatting with the barman. There is a raised area to the left of the bar with a sofa and window seat, and on the wall were musical instruments, various guitars and a banjo. A notice said that customers could play them. Ads on the walls gave details of entertainment to be held, and there was a bookcase of free books. There were 2 ales on, Sharps Doom Bar and Skinners Betty Stogs. The Doom Bar was not up to scratch but I had no problem when I asked to have it changed. There was music being played, and there was a dartboard.
