The farthest-flung pub on my two day odyssey around Edinburgh, lured here by its GBG listing. It’s mainly a restaurant but you can (with some slight incredulity) just rock up and have a drink. The servery and bar faces the ‘wrong way’ from the road, in that everything inside is geared to look out over the Moray Firth through large panoramic windows. And a fine view it is too even if the best tables for it are dining only. Light bright and airy interior over two levels, there being an atmospheric raised area to the left. Four pumps with three cask; Fyne’s Jarl and Hurricane Jack alongside Timothy Taylor Landlord. The Hurricane suffered from a lack of turnover (NBSS 2.5) which seems to be a problem in Edinburgh outside of the immediate town centre. Overall, it’s probably worth the schlep for the view if you have time but it’s very much a lower-down-the-pecking-order place. 6.5

Adjacent to the Firth of Forth giving great views up and down the coast and across to Fife. 4 real ales and food served. Live music and comedy nights advertised.
