A large town pub rescued from being a Greek-themed restaurant back in 2020. It sits on a hill and there are a few steps to get to the pub itself, reached through a paved terrace at the front with tables, chairs and various large umbrellas. There are some good views from here across the city and the hill beyond. Once inside, the three original rooms have been opened out slightly while retaining the original floor plan. The long bar is at the side as you enter, there is plenty of seating in the front two rooms and there is a dartboard in the room at the back, though this appears to be mainly a dining room. Floors are bare wood, and there’s an open fire. The staff were very welcoming, and the locals were happy to chat. Larkhall isn’t the most affluent or visibly attractive of suburbs, but friendly regulars is a bit of a theme here. Ales on were Flying Monk’s Elmer’s Pale Ale and Tribute, while Neck Oil, Natch Cider, Amstel, Guinness and three lagers were available on tap. Not a destination of choice, but it was an enjoyable visit.
