A *** CAMRA heritage pub. Internally there’s three bars; only the main bar was in use on our visit which was tidy enough, a 1930s feel with dark wood in abundance though with a bit of modernity. The other two bars were locked-up (they only open them on Friday/Saturday nights and fitba days). Fortunately the owner let us have a nose and the real catch is the rear bar which is modelled on the gents lounge of Queen Mary, though it also serves as a sports shrine (‘Sporting Memories Lounge’) which, whilst impressive in its own right, does rather obscure some of the finer details of this magnificent room. “We get a fair few English like you in here to have a look” said the deadpan but clearly proud landlord as we cooed and pointed at things. Beer-wise it was two unused handpumps, however I spotted Alloa Sweetheart in tins, so that did me well enough. Tough one to score – if you just do the main bar it’s far less of an experience. But if you get the rest, you’ll have a superior visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Frews

A 'larger than it initially looks' pub, with the main bar on the corner (supplemented by several other rooms, not visited). This is formed at a slightly acute angle but is near enough a 'L' shape, with room for a dartboard near the door and benefiting from an additional seating area off to the side of one branch. Two real ales on handpump: Doom Bar and Inveralmond Ossian (£3.60).
