Auldgirth Inn, Dumfries

Not sure quite what to make of this place. We'd saved it until last on our visit to Dumfries & Galloway, as opening times displayed online were somewhat inconsistent. WhatPub said it was open all day every day, but Facebook said that it was only open on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday evenings during the week. Their own website said that opening hours were varied due to "current restrictions", but the restaurant was closed. We took this to mean that the website hadn't been updated since Covid times.

We duly arrived on Wednesday evening to find the place desserted. A call to the hotel's number was answered only to reveal that both the pub and restaurant are currently closed for "rebranding". Quite why you would close a pub for rebranding I don't know, but it probably gives some indication of what kind of place this actually is.
