David Ross left this review about The Roxy Cafe Bar
A painted sign above the main door proclaims this as “Scotland’s Official Pub Of The Year 2004-05.” Although this award was given nearly a decade ago, it’s still the most up-market and fashionable pub at least in Girvan. At £3.30 for a pint of Tennent’s lager, it’s also the most expensive one and seems to be the favoured haunt of most of the town’s trendier young crowd. Consequently, it gets very busy and loud at night, with the adjacent street corner section, which serves as a restaurant by day, being transformed into a lively late night disco. There is a good range of beers available, with Fosters, Kronenberg and Carling lagers, in addition to Tennent’s, as well as Guinness, John Smith’s and Belhaven Best. Strongbow cider is also on tap.
