It was a fairly long walk from my hotel in Newquay around to this pub, located in a residential area of the seaside resort, but with nice views over the bay.
I was hoping to get some food here, but all tables were taken with people doing a pub quiz.
The bar is in front to the left as you enter and extends off to the rear of the pub. There is plenty of seating.
Wherever I go in the UK, I seem to find Doom Bar. But amazingly, I'd not seen the Molsoon Coors mainstay in any of my 9 previous Cornwall pubs. That run was to end here. In fact, all beers were Sharp's or Skinner's - Atlantic, Sea Fury, Porthleven & Betty Stogs were all on. Apparently a CAMRA discount may be offered. But there was certainly no signage to indicate this.
I bit the bullet and ordered a Sea Fury only to see 4 Lilley's ciders in boxes when I retreated to prop up the side of the bar. The choice was Sunset, Apples & Pears, Bee Sting & Crazy Goat.
I did eventually manage to grab a table to enjoy my Sea Fury. But that enjoyment was eventually halted by the resumption of the quiz.
This was certainly the liveliest of the pubs visited on a Tuesday in Cornwall and appears to be one of the best Newquay has to offer.

probably the best 'pub' in Newquay, which isn't saying much. one big open plan room, but the beer garden is a nice little private oasis in the middle of town.

Yes. best pub in Newquay. Food, live music, 8 ales from £2.95, 6 still ciders (inc. 3 Lilleys). Much extended and plenty of room.

This was the key meeting point for me and my mates, and by far the best pub in Newquay
