David Ross left this review about Argyll Hotel
The sign now says “Argyll Inn,” rather than Hotel, although it still offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation at very reasonable prices. Food is served and two “Rotating Real Ales” are advertised. I tried one of these, Adnams Gunhill, which was in good condition and cost £3.70. The other, currently, is Ambridge Brewery Just Jane. The keg selection is cheaper, with Belhaven Best priced at £3, and Tennent’s, Fosters and Carling lagers and Guinness also available. Wines are also sold on tap. The commodious bar/lounge is square shaped with a square central bar in the middle, making for quick and easy service. There is a real fire on one wall and a pool table, a dart board and three TV screens (showing different things) around the others. There is plenty seating, with a mix of sofas, chairs, banquettes and bar stools, in addition to standing room around old wooden barrels and at the counter.
