Quinno _ left this review about St Machar Bar
Situated in the atmospheric Old Town via the rather pretty university campus in a nice stone building that looks enticing. A long narrow room within, traditionally kitted out with a predominant and pleasing red hue as well as long padded banquette seating with a mirrored strip above and above that a static model railway, which is always a good tick! Dart board spotted. A long bar was serving up three ales; Deuchars IPA, Wooha Blonde (sadly on far too long and, I suspect, aspiratored to death) and Edinburgh Castle; a large selection of whisky was also available. Decided I was hungry after seeing that they did Mexican food, so went for the burrito which was decent. Lots of chat amongst the University-associated patrons regarding the upcoming rugby and it was a nice atmosphere generally. I rather liked the pub itself but the grotty beer means I can’t score it above a 7.
