"Please wait to be seated" read the notice in front of me as I entered, so it's considerably more gastro than pub in here. Added to which, there's just a multi-tap fount for your corporate kegs, and then the chiller doesn't work properly. Also, the wi-fi's barely there. Upside is that the staff are efficient and friendly.
While I visited late afternoon, and they were mainly dealing with dining, I didn't get the impression they'd be welcoming anyone coming in for an evening on the Cruzcampo, so I'd suggest that if something along those lines is your intention, you either find a more boozy-oriented bar, or get your lunch and move on.

Nice pub but often very busy and it's quite small. Good food with fast service.

This pub is now called the Noose & Monkey as it was taken over a few years ago by people from Hartlepool. Apparently the name is derived from an alleged hanging of a monkey for being a spy during the Napoleonic Wars. The same story is told about Boddam - so is it one of these tall stories?
