Only good beer guide pub in Newquay (detailed as the Great Western Hotel, rather than steam).
Huge hotel bar that is in an L Shape. Loads of comfy seating. Patio windows with sea views.
A beautiful sheltered terrace around the back.
Three cask on - Proper Job chosen and in fine nick. One was a red ale, but I missed the brewery but I am sure it was Cornish.
Bearing in mind the type of tourist location it is, I thought they did a lot very well. The dogs enjoyed the help yourself dog station.

a big hotel bar which is basically a dull modern room with some nice views over the beach. like all St Austell owned places in Newquay it's not pub-like at all and aimed very much at dining families. i did remark about screeching kiddies last year but couldn't hear any today so have raised the score.

This is a massive roomed bar that is part of the Great Western Hotel not far from the railway station. It is spacious and looks neat and tidy. TV screens were showing sky sport news, and there was a pool table available. It is a St Austell house and we both chose the Proper Job which was very clear and in good condition. A notice said there were stunning views, and the large windows at the back did indeed have tables where you could see right over Newquay beach. We went to the outside patio area and that was great for the views too, and there was a covered bar out there which would open in busy summer periods I imagine.
