Blue Scrumpy left this review about The New Inn

The New Inn is situated just to the north of Clydach in a pretty rural location close to an RSPB reserve. There are car parks behind and opposite the pub.

Inside, the large main room has walls painted in red and cream. Sport is clearly a focus. I spotted 3 TVs. One was showing a replay of the Lions rugby match with a few locals watching. The other two were off. Walls were lined with various sporting pictures and there was a signed rugby shirt behind the bar. Multiple phrases/sayings were also written on the walls. There was also a fireplace with a wood burner.

Whilst I didn't explore the rooms either side of the main bar, I could see that the one to the right was a dining room. There were also tables at the front of the pub and in an adjacent garden with children's play equipment. In fact, there were plenty of children present. They are allowed in the pub until 9pm, but signs said that they needed to be accompanied by an adult, as the pub was a dangerous environment. We had 5 young children on the table next to us with no adult supervision whatsoever. There is also a sweet machine in one corner. Live music was advertised, whilst there is a wifi code behind the bar.

With 2 handpulls, the only cask ale was Glamorgan Thunderbird. Ciders were from Thatcher's - Gold, Cloudy Lemon, Blood Orange and Apple & Blackcurrant. We spotted somebody drinking bottled Gwynt y Ddraig cider as we walked in. So, we enquired about what they had. As I saw the last bottle of what looked like Black Dragon in the fridge, we were told there was none available. The guy drinking it walked in soon after and had the last bottle! Looks like you have to be a regular if you want the full drinks selection here. Minimum spend with a card is £5.

I loved the location of this pub but the number of kids and the poor service are negative points
