An undercover cammo Spoons painted in a drab grey with no obvious JDW livery displayed externally. A 2013 opener but must have had a recent refurb as it’s very modern inside with little of obvious note, feels like a bit more could be done to make it feel comfy. A super pint of Gower Power (NBSS 4) taken from the three guest ales (one more than is usual in most of small town South Wales) and it’s absolutely worth the GBG place. One gripe was the breakfast backlog, took over 20 minutes by which time I’d almost finished my pint! 6.5

This is a relatively new (2013) Spoons set in what looks like an original pub albeit much extended.
It's a modern roughly square room with a wooden floor around the bar area on the right and some walls decorated with slate pieces. Fixtures and fitting are better than older outlets and their is an extensive patio area. Unusually for a JDW it has a car park. The dining area to the rear of the bar area looks like it may have been added when they took it over. It wasn't very busy on my Wednesday afternoon visit.
The standard guest ale price of £1.99 a pint makes it one of the now relatively rare sub £2.00 outlets. The food prices vary from average to slightly cheaper.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps which had the JDW Trio Of Doom and Glamorgan Welsh Pale doubled, Tomos Watkin OSB and Brains SA Gold. I went for the Welsh Pale (£1.99) which was excellent.
This is a decent Spoons but the beer choice wasn't that great. It's GBG 2017 listed.
