Cask was a single hand pump dispensing fine Brakspear Oxford Gold. Keg was Inch's, Carling, original SB, Guinness, Brooklyn Pilsner, Barry Island IPA, Brains Smooth bitter, Carlsberg, Peroni and Moretti.

Long narrow venue, boarded throughout apart from a chessboard pattern tiled skirt around the wooden fronted bar counter on the right-hand wall a short way into the venue. There was also an original flagstone floor by the entrance from the side street at the middle part of the pub. The darting area was just the other side of this entrance. Seating via a mish mash of regular tables and chairs and the odd bench. Several TVs tuned into sports but without sound, the music was a bit low key and unlike the other venues nearby this one was deserted on my early evening visit. Lots of sporting memorabilia on the wall. The venue widened a little towards the back where there was a pool table. First pub you hit on the main road into Penarth that side, and felt like it was a bit bypassed for plusher venues in the town centre.

Brains outlet. Long and straight knocked-through interior, fairly modern and a rather dull if light and airy. No analogue track and trace with barely concealed hostility when I said I couldn’t use the NHS app on my phone. Two ales on and some saving grace here, the Brains SA was good (NBSS 3.5) and Hobgoblin Gold fine (3). We sat in a corner with some Cymru RFU paraphernalia which was of passing interest. Got the feeling we were seen as a bit of an irritant on a quiet Wednesday afternoon, the guy running the place wanted to put his feet up.

A pleasantly-modernised local close to Dingle Road station. The clean and tidy bar area is opened out in one long room broken up with odd bits of balustrade, with matching wood tables and chairs. At the rear is a dining area and a small lounge section, while there outside there is a small area of seating on the pavement. The bank of 5 handpumps had a good range of Brains beers on: Bitter, SA, Red Dragon, Rev James and Brawn. A perfectly acceptable pub.
