Another Brains house and the cask offering here was again Best, SA and Rev James and surprisingly Courage Directors. Keg offering not surprisingly was Barry Island IPA, Guinness, Inch's cider, Peroni, Carlsberg, San Miguel, Bayside Welsh lager, Neck Oil, Cruz, Amstel, SB original and dark fruits.

This is a large and complicated to describe venue. the bar counter is sort of towards the back left corner and is grey painted wood front with an industrial stone flooring in front thereof. To this from the entrance from the outside car park is a carpeted area with lots of regular tables and chairs plus some leather studded booth tables along the lead up to the bar counter. Frantically busy with mostly groups of chaps watching the evenings Champions league games. Some tall tables around the bar seemed to provide a lower key watching opportunity. Beyond this was a large mostly carpeted area turned over to mostly dining space and occupied by a different clientele that were here to eat rather than watch the footy. Whilst this was a pretty basic Brains pub I liked the vibrancy of the venue.

Brains pub in the Whitchurch area of the Cardiff suburbs. With this being my first visit to Wales since February 2020, the local Covid rules were explained by the friendly barmaid. It seems Bojo's NHS app is not very widely used. Wherever we went, it was common practice for names to be taken manually.

5 handpulls were clipped on the fairly long bar, but only 3 real ales were actually available - Brains Bitter & Rev James are regular ales. The guest ale was Marston's Pedigree.

The interior was a bit on the dark side and appeared to be more of a style suited for dining than drinking. Nevertheless, only one other customer was present, with the exception of ourselves and the atmosphere was nice enough, if not a bit quiet.
