Sprawling GK pub. Enter through door on corner into huge internal area. Seating area with high tables and stools immediately inside the front door and a raised area to right of door with traditional tables and chairs. There is a classier (relatively speaking) lounge area to the left of the bar in a separate room, with seating therein comprised of banquettes, tables and chairs. This area is carpeted and was busy with diners. Up some stairs from entrance / reception like area of the pub was a vast bare boarded area with many many tables and chairs with bar also running along left side front part of this JDW super pub’esque chasm. Another seating area opposite the bar spun off from the long expanse at the back. Pub was busy at 12.45pm. Lots of TV's dotted around. Pool tables at the back. Large outside seating area, partly covered with some big outdoor screens that show the big games (which here would be Wales rugby and footy). Lots of pics of Welsh sporting and cultural icons dotted around the walls.

Had a pint of GK IPA which was OK on my visit. Tons of taps and only 4 hand pumps - two ciders from Lilley’s (Bee Sting and Mango) plus IPA and Abbot. Little worthy of noting amongst the keg offering. Tiny Rebel Clwb Tropica was about as exotic available here.

This place is mentally busy on Friday and Sat evenings where they will have bouncers on the doors. Would have to be mentally insane to visit on those evenings unless you are at worse a millennial or are into protein shakes and spray tan. Had never visited previously and can’t ever see myself visiting again even though I pass pretty often when regularly in Cardiff. Plenty of other fish in the Cardiff beer sea.

Made the schlep out here for parochial reasons to do with the pub name. It looks sturdy and handsome from the outside so I crossed my fingers and hoped. However inside in a ghastly Greene King-run barn - gloomy, with sports TVs and squawking kids everywhere. Really struggled to find a positive, maybe the lower servery was the only non-repulsive feature. Cask-wise it was just GK IPA on which was crap (NBSS 1.5).

This pub has a nice lounge bar unfortunatly the lighting is far to dark meaning that you cannot see the money in your own hand when sat at a table.
The bar is large and gets busy but at weekends is full of people from council estates who just seem keen to fight.
