The only pub in an archetypal Cornish fishing village, this pub has a couple of rooms with outdoor seating in a courtyard to the front. The bar is on the right as you enter. Walls are lined with lots of pictures of the village and villagers, but the pub appeared to be full of tourists. If there were any locals, they were in the bar area, as all other available space was being taken with people eager to dine there. A few were waiting for tables too. But the bar staff were doing a really good job of accommodating everybody.
The room off to the left serves more of a dining room, but on a sunny Friday evening, the patio doors were open, effectively merging it onto the outside area to the front. A corridor to the rear leads to the accommodation, some outdoor toilets and the rather sizeable kitchen which was catering for the hungry hoards. We heard the price of a couple's bill, which was in excess of £100. Although at least one of them had had the lobster which had supposedly been caught that day, presumably by one of the village's 4 fishing boats moored in the small harbour just down from the pub.
Rooms were priced from £60 and on a Friday evening, the pub hosts a sea shanty session. There was no sign of this just before 8pm. But I guess they finish the dining session before it kicks off. I'd imagine it's quite an experience for the tourists.
Sharp's Doom Bar & Atlantic are the regular beers. In addition, they had a house beer called Cadgwith Cove Cask from Laine's & Skinner's Betty Stogs. The cider selection was Thatcher's Gold or Stowford Press.
Apparently, the pub has around 5 car parking spaces, but we never found these. But these are nevertheless more for those staying overnight. The village car park is a fair drive up a rather precipitous hill, but somehow the walk back down to the village does not seem that far, as you pass fields of turkeys, quaint thatched cottages and the fairly ramshackle local church.
I quite liked this pub. It's obviously making the most of its earning potential by catering for holidayers to the area, but retains a certain local charm. I'd like to see what it is like away from the peak summer season when the village is much quieter.

Beautiful village - with this one of the most prominent buildings. Best to park out of town at the car park, rather than attempt to drive down.
GBG2024 New Entry. Super friendly bar man. Enter and a dining room on left and a beautiful snug on the right. Complete with real fire and loads of photos of locals and fishermen.
Beerwise - there was a first spotting this holiday of Betty Stoggs and Doom Bar (possibly one more Sharps). The Betty Stoggs wasn't that great but I think this may be down to the brewery takeover. Without prompting, I had quite the chat with the owner about beer quality, CAMRA mystery shoppers and even how long the beer lines are in here from the cellar.
Food was pricey but exceptional. Somehow, we managed to blow over £80 on lunch with only two drinks. This is a world record in our house, but we did enjoy the food and experience.
A fitting end to a fine week in the Lizard peninsula.

The is a detached stone cottage of a building that has been white rendered, with black sills on the sash windows The modern signage is a little out of keeping, but there is a nice front patio area. Also does accommodation. The interior has a couple of rooms, in white and beam, off the entrance corridor; the more foody area to the left and the serving bar and bar area to the right. There is a small back room, in white, that has a dart board too. There are a lot of sea and boat pictures - not a shock there then. The floor is wood. There is no TV and no music. They have a folk night on Tuesdays, which was great. The singers that appear on Fridays hadn't started by 10.45, so we went back to the cottge. Service was great and the clientele mixed - many holidaymakers of course. Beer; usual tap stuff with Doombar, Otter Bitter and Skinner's Betty Stoggs on handpull. The beer was generally decent, and it was nice to see an Otter beer - Doombar and Stoggs are of course prevalent in Cornwall.

Called into this charming pub while looking round the cove area, and enjoyed both the Black Sheep Bitter and the Otter Bitter, It is great to see beers from other than the Big 3 in Cornwall. Lively atmosphere in the seating area outside.

Pretty village and traditional old pub serving reasonable food to the many non locals who visit (and can afford it!). Food apart there is little to attract here, the excellent beers are spoilt by being extremely poorly kept and poorly served and there seems no willingness on the part of the current landlord to change this. Like most pubs in this area it is on the market although at a vastly inflated and unrealistic price. Best advice is to find another pub to drink in, there are plenty close by serving good beer, and just visit Cadgwith for the scenery.
