Four hand pumps, one not dispensing the other three providing Old Golden Hen, GK IPA and Abbot. Keg offering of Coors, Guinness, Madri, Carling, Moretti, Peroni, Stella, San Miguel, original and dark fruits SB.
This is a GK Hungry Horse venue and as a result it is a large venue. There are a few picnic style benches at the front and side of the venue. Essentially a very long rectangle with bits added on in various places! The bar counter is an L shaped affair on the rear wall opposite the entrance with a large, boarded space in front thereof. There is a small amount of tall stool seating at the extremities of the bar counter. A mixture of seating arrangements in the space in front of the bar counter, tall and regular tables and a banquette serving a couple of the tall tables and a single booth table thrown in for good measure in an area which is generally carpeted. On the left-hand fringe is a carpeted room with regular tables and a mixture of banquette, bucket armchairs and regular chairs, the almost panoramic windows in this room providing the best views of the coastline in the pub. At the rear of the venue is the sports bar part of the venue, its own bar counter serving a subset of the beers at the main bar counter, a mixture of bare boarded and carpeted, regular and tall tables with quite a few screens and a raised area in the rear left-hand corner hosting a pool table and a dartboard. There is a small rear paved beer garden with picnic style benches. Over to the right-hand side of the entrance is the large area that looks like it is turned over to diners at least during busy periods. Seating here in the full variety of potential options. Quite a few TVs in this area tuned into the tennis during my stay, is that deemed to be more an eating sport than the drinking sport of snooker in the more overt drinking parts of the venue?

The Ship is a Hungry Horse pub, so the food is very reasonably priced, if not the best quality. The main bar is to the right of the entrance in the centre of the pub facing some high tables. To the right of the bar is seating aimed at diners and to the left is a separate over 18s bar that was freezing cold. In here is a pool table and lots of high table, many of which were covered in used pint glasses. Televisions are located throughout for showing Sky and BT Sports and there was some background music playing.
The bar supports a standard keg range alongside Peroni and San Miguel. One of the four hand pumps was unused which left three offerings from Greene King, which were Abbot Ale, IPA and Old Speckled Hen. There are better pubs in Barry.

Bright & airy. Food is slightly hit & miss, but very reasonably priced. Toilets can be very dirty, but there is usually soap & toilet paper. GOOD VALUE NIGHT OUT!
