The Eagles Inn, Rhayader

It was a surprise to find this open, but apparently they open at 12 noon in summer, rather than 1pm, so I quickly found a parking place for my holiday hire car and popped in for a quick half. There was one hand pump with Three Tuns XXX 4.3% at the far end of the bar, which is more of a hatch, though it also extends into the games room on the right (no hand pumps in there). But as I got nearer I could see Wye Valley Butty Bach, which had been hidden by a box of straws at the left end of the counter. I'm not a fan of either, to be honest, but I had a half of the Three Tuns, which was ok (£5.10/pint). I had the interior of the pub to myself, as the family groups that preceded me had disappeared into the garden. I had hopes of this being a bit better than average - it looks good on the outside - but it's just OK.
