A large and attractive old-fashioned hotel, with a lounge bar in a wood-panelled room that is helpfully sign-posted just before reaching reception. There is also a public bar, which has a pool table and loud music, but this is accessed through another door around the back of the building. The lounge bar is a lovely room; how much is original is hard to say, but there are certainly one or two more clocks than would be necessary just to tell the time. On the bar are three hand pumps with just two real ales at the time of my visit: Sharps Doom Bar and Stonehouse Sunlander, a rather bland, citrusy beer. It's quite pleasant here, and if I found myself back in Llanfyllin I might well pop in to see if there's anything more to my taste on the bar.

This 17th century coaching inn is one of the heritage pubs of Wales. The hotel has a wood panelled lounge, a public bar and a separate restaurant. The original 17th century staircase leads up to the hotel's accommodation. Real Ales are served and the lounge bar has its own good value food menu.
