Steve of N21 left this review about Markets Tavern
The Markets Tavern is another B&B Hotel / pub servicing Brecon.
Quite decent looking from the outside, being a big square building built out of the local stone and in keeping with the other period buildings in this part of town. But a bit tired and not the smartest place internally and could probably do with a bit of TLC.
Two rooms with a standard front bar and then a larger back room which I guess is normally focussed on dining but was being used as an inside live music room during the Brecon Fringe.
But in fairness probably the reason I didn’t like this place as much as some of the other venues in town was that it is a Marstons house and despite being two ale handpumps on each bar only Banks Brewery Sunbeam was available over the Fringe weekend. Fortunately they were also dispensing this from the pop up bar in the car park that was servicing the crowd watching acts on the main outdoor stage.
But it still wasn’t enough to encourage me to return to this one during the couple of days we lingered in Brecon after all the fun and frivolity had finished.
