Fairly understated, sat in a row of already grand Victorian terracing, this is more pub than hotel bar. There are two rooms either side of the servery off an ornate tiled corridor. The front room was quite dim in the late night setting, separated into two sections by a central chimney stack that has remained in place. Trad stylings with third length dark varnish wood panelling and trim with sky blue walls. TV football on the go. One downside was the smell of old fags and deep fried food. Friendly service at the bar and a nice atmosphere amongst the punters. Three ales on the go; Rhymney Export (NBSS 4), Bass (punter’s choice from pull or barrel – nice touch – the latter a 3.5) and one from Evan Evans. Old school and quite enjoyable, a pretty default option when in the town I’d say. 7.5

Definitely a pub - even if it looks like a traditional seaside hotel from outside. We were lucky to attend on Grand National Weekend, when they run a beer festival on. 14 real ales from an inside and outside bar. I went for the Rhymney Export, which is a permanent feature. Like everyone we met in this part of the world, the locals were friendly and talkative.
Great little pub.

Great little hotel bar. If you are a real ale fan you might spend longer in here than any other Porthcawl pubs. It can get a bit packed as it is not that big. There was a good selection of beers available on my visit and excellent service.

Very small, but cosy little place.
The Selection of beers is superb, top drawer, guest ales change a lot too.
And some nice food too.
