Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Pheasant
The Pheasant is a Brain's pub next to the church and the village green in the quiet village of Pen-y-fai. There are a couple of entrance doors. We chose the right-hand entrance which leads into a dining area. The left-hand entrance is for the bar section. In between, there is another small drinking area between both main rooms.
The pub is nicely decorated. It is bare boarded in the bar, with a mixture of tiling and carpet in the dining room. The dining room has exposed stone walls but otherwise the pub has a modern feel to it. A TV in the bar was showing Sky Sports News without sound, with music playing instead. There was also a games machine. Board games were available to play from the dining area, whilst the pub also hosts occasional quiz nights. There is also an outdoor patio with a children's play area and a large car park.
At the bar, there are a total of 10 handpulls, 5 either side. Service is only from the dining room side but they presumably open the bar side at busier times. Just SA & The Rev James on the cask ale front. Neck Oil was available on keg. Ciders were Old Mout Berries & Cherries & Bulmer's Inch's Riverside, one I haven't seen before.
Most customers were eating on the dining side. We chose to sit in the bar, where there were two other tables with 2 blokes on each. One appeared to be a gay couple on a first date. Dogs are allowed in, with bowls and blankets found in the porch of the bar entrance.
