Blue Scrumpy left this review about Llynfi Arms
Roadside pub on the A Road heading out of Bridgend towards Maesteg. As we pulled up outside, we could smell roast pork. It was a Saturday lunchtime but we also noticed that Sunday lunch was being promoted in the window.
The pub has a dining room on the left and a bar on the right, as you enter. With the dining room empty, we chose the bar and were greeted by a friendly barmaid. Handpulls have been removed since this pub last made an appearance in the Good Beer Guide back in 2003. The keg choice was Cruzcampo, Fosters, Moretti, Brixton Reliance Pale Ale, Old Mout Berries & Cherries, Inch's, Strongbow & Guinness. The smell of pork had got the better of us. So, we ordered a couple of roast pork baguettes. These came with a little salad. The meat was a bit thinly sliced but came with plenty of stuffing. It was nice but could have benefitted from some gravy, apple sauce and perhaps some crackling.
Three other customers, one in a wheelchair and a dog were present when we arrived. They ordered some curries and a couple of sausages for their dog. Another family arrived not too long afterwards, also for food. Menus can be found on each table and they serve a fairly basic lunchtime menu. It is good value and portions are large.
The bar was carpeted. A TV was showing live athletics whilst live music is also promoted. Flowerboxes in the front window are quite pretty. This is a friendly place which makes up for the lack of cask ale in other ways.
