Terrace pub which screams ‘real ale’ from the pub sign – an old 1970’s coach. Staple shaped inside, fairly modern decor but keeps a feel of a traditional pub (does the dart board get any use?). Brews its own stuff (see the room behind the servery for kit) and the range is advertised on a screen above the bat which feeds from Untappd. Four cask with three on; Wye Valley Toros (NBSS 3), VoG South Island (3.5) and the homebrew bitter, Bridgend Best (2.5). Also tried their NEIPA on keg which was decent, alongside Flamingo Bingo from BeerRiff. One downside was the staffing – or lack of it – just one overworked teenage kid doing absolutely everything on a busy COVID-rules weekday evening, which resulted in a sometimes lengthy wait between finishing one beer and getting the next one. He kept a positive attitude going though, which was commendable.

Edge of town pub which doesn't look much from outside, but going in you are greeted with a row of handpumps, plus a couple of barrels on stillage and some boxed ciders. Look to the left and you find a microbrewery, which rather explains it. The pub has been lightly modernised with a clean bright feel, decorated with swathes of pump clips across the ceiling and walls. A serious drinkers' pub: recommended.
