Hidden away in back streets, this seems like a locals pub. Two hand pumps, but when I asked for the Conwy Beachcomber 4.2%, the lass who served me took a sniff before handing it to me and declared it off. I'd already paid £2.50 for my half, and the alternative (St Austell Proper Job 4.5%) was only £4.50 for a pint, so I acquired 25p in change. This beer was pretty decent, which is more than I can say for the dreadful pop music being pushed out by some loudspeakers. The beams around the bar area are covered with old pump clips, most of them not all that old, to be fair, and two evident regulars wete also cask ale drinkers, so worth a look in. But be prepared for no choice of cask beer, or none at all, I guess.

This is what appears to be a tiny old stone built pub down a narrow side street in the centre of Dolgellau. It only seems to have one door and window. On entering it is a small room with a bar in the middle and a fireplace to the right. The floor is tiled and there were a few tables and chairs and side benches. There were also a couple of dart boards. On either side of the bar were doors, the left one leading through to the back bar and a small paved garden and the right one leading through to just the back bar. This bar is a large square room dominated by a pool table so I returned to the cosy front bar. This had two hand pumps that the friendly landlady explained always had a Purple Moose beer and the other a rotating guest. On my visit they had Purple Moose Glaslyn and Robinson's Voodoo Dawn. I went for the Glaslyn (£3.00) which was in good nick.
I later discovered a jukebox in here and found on it a compilation CD by Jethro Tull. To my delight track 1 was Aqualung, the pub gets brownie points for that but no rating points!
I rather liked this place and returned after visiting the other Dolgellau pubs (they are all very close!).
