The Goat very much appears to be the locals' pub in Bala, or at least the local alcoholics appeared to have gathered here. The pub made the Good Beer Guide in 2025. The solitary ale (Butty Bach) served here must be in good condition. I'm not a huge fan of the beer myself and instead opted for a cider. They had Magners, Magners Dark Fruit & Strongbow. There was a second handpull which seldom gets any use.
The pub has a couple of rooms. The left-hand room has photographs of Welsh celebrities on the walls of a raised area to the rear. There is also a fruit machine against the opposite wall. TVs could be found in both rooms. They were showing European football. Music was also playing. The right-hand room had a popular pool table. Dogs are allowed in and I duly got slobbered on.
This is a basic, rough and ready local. My guess is that prices are cheaper here than elsewhere in town but I didn't take too much notice of the price when I ordered.

Basic two room town centre pub. Loud jukebox and loud customers. Real ale served in this Marstons house is Ringwood Best Bitter from a single handpump at a bargain price of £2.00/pint (May 2012).
